Everything Starts Small

This week, Pastor Josh continued the message series Secrets of God's Economy with a message titled Everything Starts Small.  Whether it’s a rose seed, a child, or even an idea, everything in God’s kingdom starts small— good or bad.
Check out this message as Pastor Josh reminds us not to despise our small beginnings!  Video link and message note below.

Message Notes

Mark 4:11 (NIV)
He told them, “The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables.

  1. God’s economy requires a kingdom mindset.
  2. Everything I have comes from God and belongs to God. I am not the owner.
  3. One of the primary reasons God created man was for management.

Genesis 2:5 (NIV)
Now no shrub had yet appeared on the earth and no plant had yet sprung up, for the Lord God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no one to work the ground,

Secret #4 - Everything in the Kingdom of God starts small.

Fear is a lack of confidence.

Proverbs 13:11 (NIV)
Dishonest money dwindles away, but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow.

Zechariah 4:10 (NLT)
Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.”

Luke 16:1 (NIV)
Jesus told his disciples: “There was a rich man whose manager was accused of wasting his possessions.

Luke 16:2 (NIV)
So he called him in and asked him, ‘What is this I hear about you? Give an account of your management, because you cannot be manager any longer.’

Luke 16:3 (NIV)
“The manager said to himself, ‘What shall I do now? My master is taking away my job. I’m not strong enough to dig, and I’m ashamed to beg—

Luke 16:4 (NIV)
I know what I’ll do so that, when I lose my job here, people will welcome me into their houses.’

Luke 16:5-6 (NIV)
“So he called in each one of his master’s debtors. He asked the first, ‘How much do you owe my master?’ “‘Nine hundred gallons of olive oil,’ he replied. “The manager told him, ‘Take your bill, sit down quickly, and make it four hundred and fifty.’

Luke 16:8 (NIV)
“The master commended the dishonest manager because he had acted shrewdly. For the people of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own kind than are the people of the light.

Knowledge = Information

Bridging the “Know-Do” Gap

Stop being afraid of being afraid
Quit buying your own bull 💩

Luke 16:8 (NIV)
“The master commended the dishonest manager because he had acted shrewdly. For the people of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own kind than are the people of the light.

Luke 16:9 (NIV)
“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.

Luke 16:11-12 (NIV)
So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you property of your own?

  • God doesn’t send growth until he has someone to work/manage it.
  • God’s primary measurement for trusting you is management.
  • God gives to effective managers.
  • Whatever you fail to manage you will lose.
  • Good management attracts resources.
