Wrapped | Week One: The Gift of Order

This week, Pastor Josh kicked off our final message series of the year, Wrapped, and it focuses all on gifts that will transform your family.
In week one, Pastor Josh teaches on the biblical importance of having order in our lives and in our families.

Message Notes

Matthew 7:24–27 (NKJV)
Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.

  • Jesus promises serious difficulties in all of our lives.
  • Jesus promises total security and success to those who obey His Word.
  • Jesus promises failure to every person and family that disobeys His Word.

1. Surrender your life and your family to the Lordship of Jesus and His Word.
Isaiah 53:6 (NKJV)
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own
way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

2. Trust God as your Heavenly Father to meet your needs and care for you.
Matthew 6:33 (NKJV)
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be
added to you.

Matthew 10:37 (NKJV)
He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or
daughter more than me isn’t worthy of me.

3. Think about the generational effects of your behavior and plan accordingly.
Deuteronomy 5: 9-10 (NIV)
You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous
God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of
those who hate me, 10 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me
and keep my commandments.

4. Keep your family in a Bible preaching and believing church where they can be grounded spiritually and build strong relationships.
Hebrews 10:24–25 (NKJV)
And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the
assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another,
and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
